Eric Brown is a native of Jamaica, New York and the current Pastor of the Beth-el COGIC in W. Hempstead NY. The youngest of three children; Eric was destined for ministry from birth. The son of Ollie Brown, a highly respected Pastor and preacher of the Gospel and Maebelle Brown, a dedicated and loving woman of God.
Eric Brown is the father of twin sons, Eric Jr. and Robert, who are professional football players and two bonus daughters Equashia and Equana who he inherited when he married the love of his life Evangelist Ericka Riggins-Brown.
Although Eric, was undeniable a church boy, he rebelled and chose a different path than his dad. He went on to become famous for his ability to blend some of the best music and was considered the blend master as DJ Doggtime. A career as a DJ that stemmed for many years, took him to all parts of the country. His mix tapes are still being sold worldwide today. Eric knew that GOD wanted more out of him so he left the music industry. He is often heard saying, “It just wasn't the same anymore”
Eric was a student of Farmingdale University where he earned a degree in Business Administration and St. Johns University where he majored in Accounting. However, it was something about his father’s profession that sparked an interest that he couldn't shake. He made the decision to pursue a career as an Electrician.
He was able to quickly work his way up from Apprentice to Foreman. He has been employed by Local Union #3 for over 20 years. He is well respected in his field and is often considered the, "go to guy.”
Not only is he a hard worker, but he is also a humanitarian. For 8 years Eric was a football coach for inner city youth. Often times you will hear the parents say, “Coach Brown changed my son’s life.”
He has been interviewed on several news stations for his love for activism and his commitment to justice. He is often sought after for his powerful speeches at rallies and protests. Eric has a way to get the people to understand the struggles of the less fortunate and the need for equality.
Saints Temple Church of God In Christ in Brooklyn, where he was under the leadership of Bishop Calvin W. Williams and Mother Bertha Williams is where his spiritual journey began. However, he humbly worked alongside his dad at the Beth-el COGIC on several auxiliaries and boards for many years. He is also the COO of the Stop Tripping Crusade; a fast growing youth outreach ministry and President of Brother I got Your Back; where men, young and old can take the mask off and have a safe place to open up and his passion, Get Fit Wit E, a LLC he started because he felt the pull to educate others about health and fitness. He became his first client.
Eric Brown’s defining characteristics of integrity, and faith has influenced those around him to trust God through all adversity. His favorite scripture is Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
While Eric’s commitment to Beth-el and the local community are strong, his national commitment has never suffered. He served with Elder Jerome Robinson for the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Young Men of Valor and under Bishop Tyrone Butler for the East Region Youth of the Churches of God In Christ, he serves as the Eastern NY Long Island Regional Civic leader, District Planning Committee and the current leader of what he considers the best church in the world.
